Hearn Industrial Services is seeking a Trailer & Switcher Repair Technician, to service several locations within the Michigan area. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in small engine repair of trailers plus more. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are operating efficiently and safely.

 

Wage & Shifts:

  • $25.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday; days (hours will be discussed during interview)
  • Mandatory weekends if needed

 

Mobile Technician Mechanic Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, kneeling and, overhead reaching for extended amounts of time.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team

 

Mechanic Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

  • Must have a certified trailer license
  • Perform required trailer repairs/maintenance (inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose etc.)
  • Interpret work orders, technical manuals, follow safety protocols
  • Must be able to lift parts up to 50 lbs.
  • Aluminum sheet/panel, body rail, roofing, and flooring
  • Air brake system and suspension
  • Lighting/Electrical
  • Welding & Fabrication as needed
  • ABS diagnosis
  • Perform trailer repairs, including wall patches and floor patches
  • Perform preventative maintenance on trailers
  • Replace wheel seals
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with trailers
  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment
  • Read job orders, observe and listen to vehicles in operation to resolve malfunction and plan work procedures
  • Follow checklists ensuring all critical parts are examined
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed
  • Properly complete the service and/or repairs assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures
  • Maintain your designated workspace in an organized and clean manner
  • Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management
  • Assist with other maintenance techs when trailer repairs aren’t needed, to include (warehouse maintenance, switcher maintenance, forklift maintenance, dock maintenance)
  • Proficient at reading and writing English
  • Other duties as assigned
