Hearn Industrial Services is seeking a dynamic and strategic Warehouse Operations Manager in the Detroit area to lead and optimize our warehouse functions. A background in construction and construction materials is required. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily operations, manage supply chain activities, and drive process improvements to ensure efficient inventory management, shipping, receiving, and distribution.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the entire warehouse ecosystem through innovative management practices and data-driven decision making. This will also include a phone allowance and car allowance.

Salary

  • $95,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in operations management within a warehouse environment with supervisory responsibilities
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain management including inventory management, procurement, logistics, freight forwarding, shipping & receiving
  • Strong familiarity with Warehouse Management System (WMS), ERP systems like AS400, transportation management systems (TMS), and supply chain analytics tools
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
  • Demonstrated ability in budgeting, demand planning, production planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supervising experience in a fast-paced warehouse setting with a focus on safety and efficiency
  • Proficiency in forklift operation certification preferred; experience with fleet management is a plus
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams while managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong analytical skills for supply chain analytics and operational reporting
  • Knowledge of 3PL partnerships, NVOCC operations, purchasing processes, dispatching procedures, and materials management practices is highly desirable
  • Proficient in speaking, writing, reading and comprehension of English

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise warehouse staff, including warehouse supervisors, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Oversee inventory control processes utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems such as AS400 to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Manage transportation planning and logistics coordination with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and freight carriers to optimize freight costs and delivery schedules
  • Implement process improvements using Lean methodologies and continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste
  • Develop and monitor budgets related to warehouse operations, procurement, and fleet management, ensuring cost-effective resource utilization
  • Coordinate shipping & receiving activities, including order fulfillment, dispatching, and warehouse distribution to meet customer demands
  • Oversee procurement activities such as purchasing materials, managing supply chain analytics, and supplier relationships to ensure timely availability of goods
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) for transportation management systems integration, planning, and execution
  • Supervise production planning, demand planning, and materials management to align inventory levels with forecasted needs
  • Drive safety initiatives by enforcing compliance with OSHA standards and conducting regular safety audits
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process improvement using supply chain analytics tools
