The selected candidate for the Supervisor Trailer Mechanic position will be asked to perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks on our trucking fleet. We are looking for someone that has knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems. Welding or fabrication experience is also a plus, as these techniques often come in handy when making repairs on trailers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Diagnose issues in semi-trucks and tractor-trailers
  • Perform maintenance consistently and in a proficient manner
  • Document repairs per truck
  • Schedule preventative maintenance on trucks and initiate corrective actions
  • Test Equipment and systems for performance
  • Ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Identifying and correcting unsafe working conditions / practices Supervisors have a principal responsibility of preventing accidents and injuries
  • Monitoring and motivating the employee to ensure they work safely, follow proper work procedures and work together efficiently to achieve required goals
  • Interacting with the customer on a daily basis, and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Various reports on maintenance, quality, timeliness, staffing
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, and apply troubleshooting skills
  • Supervise and train personnel, directing them to accomplish specific tasks on a daily basis
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Preferred Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair
  • Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems preferred
  • Experience with various hand tools
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Welding or fabrication experience (preferred)
  • Exceptional communication, problem solving and analytic skills
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office programs, specific to MS Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Must carry a valid driver’s license
  • Self-starter with good judgment and a safe leader
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must have a clean driving record CDL preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
